The Final Meeting of the TO_AITION EU-funded project was successfully held on 9 December 2025 in Athens, Greece, marking the completion of a six-year collaborative research effort under the Horizon 2020 programme.

The meeting brought together representatives from all consortium partners for a comprehensive review of the project’s scientific, technological, and dissemination outcomes, reflecting TO_AITION’s integrated approach to understanding the comorbidity between cardiovascular disease and depression.

The programme opened with a welcome address by the coordinator, Evangelos Andreakos (BRFAA), followed by a project overview and a series of thematic sessions structured around the project’s Work Packages. Consortium members presented the final contributions and key results in areas including:

  • Cloud infrastructure, data enrichment, genes and genetic variants

  • Multiplex disease networks, pathways, and contributing factors

  • Causal inference modelling and Mendelian randomization

  • Biomarker discovery and validation

  • Human cell-based and animal models

  • Stratification tools and Lab-on-a-Chip technologies

  • Dissemination, exploitation, and awareness activities

Throughout the day, partners shared insights gained from large-scale data analysis, experimental models, and innovative technological developments, highlighting how TO_AITION has advanced knowledge on shared biological mechanisms and potential avenues for prevention, diagnosis, and personalised treatment.

The meeting concluded with a wrap-up session and closing remarks, summarising the project’s scientific impact, collaborative achievements, and long-term value for research and clinical communities.

We sincerely thank all consortium members and partners for their dedication, expertise, and strong collaboration throughout the project’s lifecycle. TO_AITION stands as a testament to the power of multidisciplinary cooperation in addressing complex health challenges.
