In 2022, the annual ESC Congress was held on the 26-29 August at the Gran Via fair venue in Barcelona, Spain and was also available online. The spotlight of this year’s congress was cardiac imaging.
More than 30,271 health professionals from 174 countries attended the event, which covered the entire field of cardiovascular medicine. Novel research was revealed in 3,218 abstracts presented by scientists from over 81 countries.
Additionally, Dr. Antonis Sakellarios (UOI) attended the event representing TO_AITION. Under the title “Prediction of depression among patients with cardiovascular disease scheduled cardiac surgery using an AI-empowered pipeline” (Authors: V. Pezoulas 1 , K. Nowakowska 2 , J. Kazmierski 2 , D. Fotiadis 3, A. Sakellarios 3 , 1 University of Ioannina - Ioannina - Greece , 2 Medical University of Lodz - Lodz - Poland , 3 Foundation for Research and Technology - Hellas - Ioannina – Greece), Antonis presented the results of partners’ UOI and LODZ research on how to predict depression in patients with CVD. The clinical study was conducted in the cardiac surgical intensive care unit of The Central Clinical Hospital, at the Medical University of Lodz in Poland, among patients scheduled for elective coronary artery bypass graft surgery (CABG) (Partner LODZ).
